Volcei Wine Jazz: An Extraordinary Journey Through History, Tradition, and Music

Final report

Volcei Wine Jazz: An Extraordinary Journey Through History, Tradition, and Music

The thirteenth edition of Volcei Wine Jazz, an event co-funded by the Regione Campania as part of the public call promoted by the Campania Regional Tourism Agency for the implementation of projects to promote tourism and enhance the Region'e Campania territories, concluded with great success.

The event uniquely combined musical art, wine culture, and local traditions, offering participants an unforgettable experience rich in emotion and discovery. The event began on the morning of Saturday, March 23, when the picturesque village of Valva, nestled at the foot of the mountain and bathed in radiant sunshine, welcomed hundreds of tourists and wine tourism enthusiasts.

Visitors were accompanied by FAI volunteers and the Pro Loco staff on an exciting tour of the evocative gardens of Villa d'Ayala and the historic center of the town, an authentic journey through the history and tradition of a region that, amid the beauty of the Salerno countryside, combines ancient local history with pristine nature.

Villa d'Ayala and its wonders

The beating heart of the event was, without a doubt, the splendid Villa d'Ayala, an architectural jewel nestled in a park spanning over 17 hectares, which served as the backdrop for numerous events, including masterclasses and tastings.

The complex also houses the historic underground cellars, where fine wines were once produced and today bear witness to a centuries-old winemaking tradition. Equally fascinating is the heritage of the underground olive presses, carved into the rock. These ancient underground mills, thanks to the unique subsoil, ensured optimal preservation of the olives, representing a fundamental part of the local agricultural tradition.

One of these mills hosted one of the Volcei Wine Jazz sessions, hosted by Iacopo Cecere, a young entrepreneur who has chosen to invest in the area by founding an organic chicken farm.

Music, Wine, and Tradition: A Memorable Edition

The event, now in its 13th year, also offered fascinating masterclasses at the Scelsi Auditorium, where participants had the opportunity to discover the authentic flavors of the region, accompanied by musical performances and tastings led by sommelier Manuel Giachetta of the Italian Sommelier Foundation. Among the featured wineries, Cantina Bello presented its Gianpié Seibar, a 2024 Brut Rosé sparkling wine, while Cantina Carlo Polito presented its Paes Paestum Aglianico PGI, a characterful wine that reflects the roots and winemaking tradition of Cilento.

Ancient Volcei: A Treasure to Discover

Auletta, Buccino, and Valva, with their rich history, archaeological and cultural heritage, and culinary and natural traditions, continues to establish themselves as an ideal destination for an authentic tourist experience.

Volcei Wine Jazz has successfully showcased local traditions, offering audiences not only high-quality events but also an opportunity to experience the beauty of a region with so much to offer.

With this year's conclusion, the festival has demonstrated that the fusion of history, music, wine, and tradition is a winning formula, establishing Auletta, Buccino, and Valva as one of Campania's most fascinating and historic destinations. We look forward to seeing this event again in the next edition, which promises to be even richer and more engaging.
